Thursday is the 22nd day of the farmers' agitation against new agricultural laws. The petition for the removal of farmers from the roads was heard again today in a bench of Supreme Court Chief Justice SA Bobde. The court advised both the government and the farmers. Asked the government to explore the possibility of holding agricultural laws. At the same time, he advised the farmers to change the way of protest.

We are yet to decide on the legality of agricultural laws. We will give the verdict only on the issue related to the performance of the farmers and the basic rights of the citizens.

 

We believe in the fundamental right to protest against the laws and there is no question of snatching it. The only thing is that it should not threaten anyone's life.

 

Farmers have the right to protest. We will not interfere in that, but we will look into the methods of the demonstration. We will ask the Center to change the way the protest is being done so that it does not affect the right of citizens to move.

 

Performing is constitutional, as long as it does not harm anyone's property or threatens one's life.

 

The central government and the farmers must negotiate. We are considering that a fair and independent committee should be formed so that both parties can put their point in it.

 

The decision that this committee will reach should be considered. Till then the performance can be continued. People like P Sainath, Bharatiya Kisan Union can be made members of this committee.

 

If you block Delhi, then the people of the city will not get food. Negotiation can serve your purpose. Sitting on a dharna will not help.

 

We are also Indians. We are aware of the condition of the farmers. We sympathize with your cause. You just have to change the way you protest. We assure you that you will be heard.

 

The central government thought that what are the chances of stopping the law at present. Can the government assure the Supreme Court that it will not implement the law till the matter is heard?

Advocate P Chidambaram, appearing for the Punjab government, said that many farmers are from Punjab. If some people are given responsibility for negotiations between farmers and the government, then the Punjab government has no objection to this. The farmers and the central government have to decide who will be on the committee.

 

After hearing the Supreme Court comments, Attorney General KK Venugopal said that none of these protesters wore masks. They sit in large numbers in the group. The concern is of Corona. These people will go to the village and spread corona there.

Farmers cannot violate the basic rights of others.

 

When the Supreme Court asked the government to consider stopping the implementation of the law, the Attorney General asked - if this happened, the farmers would not come to discuss.
