More than 8.74 lakh students are joining
The High Court has banned the wearing of hijab and burqa inside classrooms. On the hijab controversy, a full bench of the Karnataka High Court had ruled that the hijab is not a necessary religious practice and everyone must follow the rule of wearing a uniform. Class 10th examinations began on Monday in over 48,000 examination halls across 3,440 centers in the state. More than 8.74 lakh students had enrolled to sit in these. The final examination of class 10 is to be held on April 11.
Minister said - Police free to take action
Karnataka Home Minister Araga Gyanendra has warned that action will be taken against those who violate the rules related to hijab and dress code. We will not compromise on this. He said that everyone should follow the order of the Karnataka High Court. Girls should appear in the exam without hijab. At the same time, the state's primary and secondary education minister BC Nagesh said that the police will naturally take action against those who violate the government rules. He said that I am sure that no student will allow such an opportunity to come.
Hubli and Baglakot clash
On the first day of the board examination, different cases were seen in two districts of Karnataka regarding the hijab. Where a girl student, who came to an examination center in Hubli district wearing a hijab and burqa, was turned back. However, she was given some extra time to come back wearing the uniform, after which she appeared for the exam. At the same time, the student boycotted the examination after she was not given admission at an examination center in the Bagalkot district.
