Himachal to provide subsidy for energy audit

Parwanoo (Himachal Pradesh), Feb 23 (IANS) The Himacham Pradesh government will provide subsidy to the industry for conducting energy audit, an official said Monday.

"The government has been encouraging the industry to adopt energy efficient systems and processes. In this direction, a subsidy of 50 percent or Rs.50,000, whichever is less, is being given for undergoing energy audit," directorate of energy superintending engineer H.K. Wadhwa said.

"The department has empanelled 24 agencies through which the audit can be carried out," said Wadhwa at a one-day training programme on energy conservation techniques organised here by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

The scheme is valid for 100 companies on a "first-come, first-served basis". The energy efficiency in compressed air system, electrical system, induction motors and lighting system were some of the important aspects that were discussed.

More than 40 participants across industries participated, said a statement by the CII.

The session trained the energy professionals and managed to develop knowledge on techniques for effective energy management at the design stage that would result in reducing both thermal and electrical energy consumption in operation.
