Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann made a promise in this regard in the ongoing session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly on Tuesday. This resolution was demanded by Congress MLA Pratap Bajwa. On the other hand, BJP MLA Ashwani Sharma opposed it.

It is worth mentioning that under the Agneepath scheme, there is a plan to recruit Agniveers in the army for 4 years. There have been massive protests across the country against this. In this regard, incidents of vandalism and arson in trains have also come to the fore in many states including Bihar. At the same time, Congress is protesting against this plan at Jantar Mantar. Congress is demanding the withdrawal of this scheme. At the same time, it has been made clear by the Ministry of Defense and the government that the Agneepath scheme will not be rolled back.
