IND vs AUS: Australia's poor move, Marsh-Maxwell-Hazlewood mock India's 'no handshake' policy

A new controversy has erupted over the Indian players' policy of not shaking hands during the Asia Cup 2025 between India and Pakistan. This time, the issue has surfaced outside the cricket field, in Australia. Australian players have released a video mocking India's stance, which is rapidly going viral on social media.

 

 

The controversy stemmed from the handshake at the Asia Cup.

During the Asia Cup 2025, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav refused to shake hands with Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha after the match. The entire Indian team followed suit. The three times India and Pakistan faced each other, the Indian players refrained from any kind of handshake or greeting. India ultimately defeated Pakistan to win the Asia Cup, but the players' no-handshake stance garnered more headlines than the game itself.

 

 

The Kangaroos satirized India's "weakness"

Now, ahead of the ODI series against India, the Australian men's and women's players satirized this very incident. Australian sports network Kayo Sports posted a video on social media. The video begins with an anchor saying, "We all know India is a great team... but we've discovered their biggest weakness." Another anchor then adds, "We know they don't like the traditional greeting, handshakes, so why not confuse them before the match even starts?"

 

 

The video shows Australian male and female cricketers discussing their unusual ways to greet Indian players. Some are flashing high-fives, others are making the Namaste gesture. However, some players make offensive gestures, and everyone is seen laughing. While the video has been deleted from Kayo Sports' Twitter handle following the controversy, it has gone viral on social media, with Indian fans calling it an insensitive joke.

 

 

The three-match ODI series between India and Australia begins on October 19. The first ODI will be played in Perth. The second ODI will be played in Adelaide on October 23rd, and the third in Sydney on October 25th. This will be followed by a five-match T20I series. These matches will be played on October 29th, 31st, November 2nd, November 6th, and November 8th. The ODI series will mark the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to international cricket.
