IND vs ENG: Indian team's magic did not work at Lord's, second closest defeat on foreign soil; series tied at 1-2

England defeated India by 22 runs. On the last day of the Lord's Test on Monday, the hosts bowled out the Indian team for 170 runs and won the match. With this win, England took a 1-2 lead in the five-match Test series against India. Earlier, Ben Stokes' team defeated India by five wickets in the Leeds Test. At the same time, the Indian team won the second Test (Edgbaston Test) by 336 runs. Let us tell you that this is the second closest defeat of the Indian team on foreign soil. Earlier, the team was defeated by 16 runs against Australia in Brisbane in 1977.

In the Lord's Test, England won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 387 runs for 10 wickets in the first innings. For them, Joe Root scored 104, and Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse scored 51 and 56 runs respectively. After this, India also scored 387 runs for 10 wickets. From their side, KL Rahul scored 100, Rishabh Pant 74, and Ravindra Jadeja 72 runs. In the second innings, England scored 192 runs for the loss of 10 wickets and set a target of 193 runs in front of India, which the Indian team could not achieve and was all out at a score of 170.

England spinner Shoaib Bashir bowled an off-break in the fifth ball of the 75th over, which Siraj defended. But the ball backspun after falling on the pitch and hit the stumps. He completed the 25th half-century of his Test career in 150 balls. For England, in the second innings, Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes took three wickets each while Brydon Carse got two successes. In the first session on the fourth day, Mohammad Siraj wreaked havoc and showed the way to the pavilion to Ben Duckett as well as Ollie Pope. Duckett could score 12 and Pope four runs. Sundar also showed his magic in the third session and bowled out Ben Stokes (33) and Shoaib Bashir (2).
