External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has slammed neighboring China for straining relations with India. He bluntly said on Friday that China is responsible for the current relations between India and China. China has created a decline in bilateral relations, not us. He clearly said that clapping is not done with one hand but with both hands. If the relationship is to be improved then it is necessary to make efforts from both sides.
The External Affairs Minister said these things on the occasion of the Shyama Prasad Lecture on 'New India and the World', organized here. When asked if there could be a working relationship between the two Asian giants, he was clear, it takes a two-way effort to make a relationship work. China should also believe in a practical relationship.
Jaishankar said that if better working relations were to be maintained, China would have to abide by the 1993 and 1996 agreements on the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Jaishankar said that India always wants good relations with neighbors and we have tried this at every level. He said that China has violated our sovereignty. But every time we have given a befitting reply to his action.
Western forces tried to interfere in the Jammu and Kashmir dispute
He also talked about the relations between India and Pakistan and said that Western forces tried to interfere in the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. This is the reason why we must strengthen our national security. We have increased national security in Jammu and Kashmir. Our Western allies are also now understanding this situation.
Now our clear vision of Pakistan
He said that Sardar Patel and Syama Prasad Mukherjee had a clear vision regarding Pakistan. Mukherjee had said that when Pakistan attacks, India is blamed. In 2023, we should adopt Mukherjee's views on diplomacy. The External Affairs Minister said that earlier our policies were not effective enough to counter Pakistan's cross-border antics. But now our stand on cross-border terrorism is clear. This is proved by our operations in Uri and Balakot.
The External Affairs Minister further said that today India is the fifth largest economy in the world and is respected all over the world as a global power. Our stand is very clear in this matter that we will not compromise on the sovereignty and strategic position of the country at any cost. Our influence is growing globally.
India's relations with Russia more stable
He further said that our relations with Russia have remained stable even amid the turmoil. Relations between India and Russia are more stable as compared to relations with other countries. People in India have different feeling about Russia. India's strong ties with Russia and the US are no hindrance. These two countries cannot tell us whether we should be friends with Japan or any other country.
