India will not stop infrastructure development projects in areas of strategic importance along the nearly 3,500 km border with China. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday took stock of the situation by meeting with Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat and the chiefs of the three armies amid tense incidents with China.
The meeting also presented a blueprint for India's response to the increase in the number of troops from China to the Defense Minister. According to the sources, it was clarified in the meeting that talks will continue but there will be no compromise with their sovereignty. It was decided in the meeting that all the road construction works should be going on and if China increases its military presence on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) then India will also continue to increase its military force there.
According to sources, Army Chief General MM Narwane is informing the Defense Minister about the situation in East Ladakh daily. China has been angered by India building a road in the Pangong Soe Lake area, a road connecting Darbuk-Shyok-Daulat Beg Oldi to the Galvan Valley as well.
Information given to PM late evening
Top Army officials met Prime Minister Narendra Modi a few hours after the meeting with Rajnath Singh and gave him complete information. CDS General Bipin Rawat, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval were also present in this meeting with Modi. It is believed that the three military chiefs informed the PM about the decision taken in the meeting held with the Defense Minister. Though no official statement was released about this meeting, according to sources, NSA Doval is keeping an eye on the LAC bordering Ladakh as well as the international border of North Sikkim and Uttarakhand.
Projects will continue
The Defense Minister is said to have said that despite China's aggressive behavior, there is no need to re-review the implementation of important projects on LAC in Ladakh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh. In the wake of the 20-day standoff between the two sides, the Indian Army has extended its presence and sent a message that India is not going to stop any aggressive military stand of China.
