Violence between Israel and Hamas escalates, fear of war

Heavy firing and rocket attacks between Palestinian extremists and the Israeli army have increased significantly in the Gaza Strip. The United Nations fears that it might turn into a war.

Israel says Palestinian extremists have fired more than a thousand rockets in the last 38 hours. Most of these were left in Tel Aviv.

While on Tuesday, Israel carried out airstrikes in Gaza, and in this attack, two tower blocks of Gaza were demolished.

During these attacks, Israeli Arabs have organized violent demonstrations in many Israeli cities. Emergency has been imposed in the city of Lod near Tel Aviv.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said that he is very concerned about the violence.

The Israeli Health Ministry says 43 Palestinians have died in the attacks since Monday, including 13 children. While six Israelis have also died.

All this violence has started after the violent clashes at the Al Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem. Al-Aqsa Mosque is considered by both Muslims and Jews to be a holy site.

The Israeli army says that 1050 rockets and mortar shells have been fired from Gaza. Of these, 850 have fallen in Israel, while around 200 have been thwarted by the Dom Air Defense system of Israel.

Attack

Video footage coming from the city shows a large number of rockets in the sky, some of which were destroyed by Israeli interceptor missiles.

Explosions and air sirens were heard throughout the night in Tel Aviv, Aishkelon, Modine, and southern Birsheba city, as Palestinian extremists fired multiple rockets to dodge Israel's missile defense system.

Jerusalem Post correspondent Ana Ehronheim told the BBC that the sound of hundreds of interceptors and rockets falling nearby was quite frightening.

After the fall of two residential towers of Gaza in the Israeli army attack, the rocket attacks have increased significantly. Israel says it was targeting rocket launch sites and high-rise buildings, homes, and offices that Hamas is using in its attacks.

Gaza is controlled by the Palestinian extremist group Hamas. On the other hand, Hamas says that enemies have targeted us by targeting residential towers.

Although people were warned to evacuate the building before the Israeli airstrikes, health officials say ordinary civilians have died in this attack.

Fadi Hannona, a journalist from Gaza City, tweeted a video. He claims that this video is from Wednesday morning, in which several blasts are seen one after the other in Gaza.

He says, "Whatever is happening is unbelievable. What we saw in the morning, I have not seen in the last three years.

anxiety

The international community has appealed to both sides to reduce tension. He has expressed concern that the situation should not get out of control. Middle East Peace Ambassador to the United Nations Tor Waynesland has said that both sides are taking it towards a wider war.

US State Department spokesman Ned Price has said that Israel has the right to protect itself, but the Palestinian people have the right to protect themselves.

On the other hand, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz says that the Israeli attacks are just beginning.

He said, "Terrorist organizations have been targeted and this will continue even further as they have decided to attack Israel. We will return peace for a longer period."

Hamas leader Ismail Hania in his televised address said - If Israel wants to increase tension, then we are ready for it. If he wants to stop it, then we are also ready.

Meanwhile, Israeli Arabs have staged violent demonstrations in the Israeli city of Lod. The protesters threw stones at the police and in response the police used stun grenades.

Emergency

On Tuesday night, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced an emergency in Lod. According to the Times of Israel, this is the first time since 1966 that the government has used emergency officials against the Arab community.

Israeli media says that many Jewish prayer places and shops were set on fire. Whereas news agency Reuters says that stones were fired on the car of an Arab resident.

According to the Times of Israel, the Mayor of Laud Yair Revivo has said that all Israelis should know that control is completely over here. Civil war has started in Laud.

There are also reports of tension from several other cities in Israel, where there is a population of Israeli Arabs. Apart from this, there is tension in East Jerusalem and West Coast as well.

What is Jerusalem's dispute?

After the Middle East War of 1967, Israel took control of East Jerusalem and considers the entire city as its capital.

However, the international community does not support it. Palestinians see East Jerusalem as the capital of a future independent country.

Tension has increased in the area for the last few days. It is alleged that the Jews who claim this part of the land are trying to evict the Palestinians, which is a matter of dispute.

In October 2016, the Executive Board of the UN's cultural arm, UNESCO, passed a disputed resolution stating that the historic al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem has no claim to Jews.

The proposal was passed by the Executive Committee of UNESCO.
