Even before entering this auction, Chennai Super Kings had the option to buy only a maximum of 6 players, in which it was mandatory to have a maximum of 3 foreign and 3 Indian players. Accordingly, CSK has included 25 players in its squad by purchasing 3 Indian and 3 foreign players. After ending this spectacular auction, Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Vishwanathan said, "I think today was a very fortunate day for us, because we were successful in buying the players whom we wanted mostly. Like we got replacements for Ben Stokes, Dwayne Pretorius, and Kyle Jameson. We were successful in getting all-rounders. We were very lucky to get Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra."
Chennai got Pathirana's backup
He further said, "Apart from this, we have got Mustafizur as a backup to Mathisha Pathirana. This is what the team management wanted. That is why we are very fortunate that we got the players we wanted. Shardul is back in the team. We are very happy to have brought him in. I think we got Shardul at a very good price because we were expecting the all-rounder slot to be much more expensive. I am very happy that Shardul is back, he has played for CSK.
