The 17th season of IPL has been full of bad memories for Hardik Pandya so far. The matter became so heated that former captain Rohit Sharma had to handle the fans and while fielding at the boundary, Rohit appealed to the spectators not to boo Hardik and was seen calming the fans.
Why is Hardik becoming a victim of booing?
Hardik has played for Mumbai Indians for a long time. He started his career with this team, but in the mega auction held for the 2022 season, Hardik was included in their team by Gujarat Titans and made him the captain. Hardik stayed with Gujarat till the 2022 and 2023 seasons and during this period the team achieved a lot of success. Gujarat emerged victorious in its first season under Hardik's captaincy, whereas the team finished runner-up last season. However, even before the mini-auction for this season, Mumbai Indians traded Hardik to Gujarat. Hardik returned to the team again, but the matter worsened when the team management appointed Hardik as its captain in place of Rohit, who made Mumbai the champion five times under his captaincy. This decision astonished the audience. Rohit's fans were angry with his removal from the captaincy. Hardik also made some mistakes during his captaincy. Due to this, Hardik is becoming a victim of booing again and again.
Manjrekar appealed to the audience for proper behavior
A strange incident was witnessed in the match between Mumbai and Rajasthan Royals. During the toss, presenter Sanjay Manjrekar asked the Wankhede audience to behave appropriately. Rohit came to Hardik's rescue
Hardik could not escape the booing even on his home ground in Mumbai, but he got good support from his former captain Rohit. A photo of this is going viral on social media in which Rohit is standing on the boundary and is seen asking the spectators to stop booing Hardik by showing his hand. This behavior of Rohit is being appreciated a lot.
Mumbai scored a hat-trick of defeats
The Mumbai Indians team has not been able to open a winning account even after three matches. Mumbai's batting was very poor against Rajasthan and the team somehow managed to score 125 runs for nine wickets. In reply, Rajasthan won by scoring 127 runs with 27 balls remaining. Mumbai Indians thus scored a hat-trick of defeats and are still at the bottom of the points table.
