IPL 2024: From Chawla to Dhawan, these 15 cricketers who played in 2008 IPL will be seen playing this year also, see list

In IPL-2024, a unique recipe of entertainment is going to be prepared with the spice of youth enthusiasm and experience. In this IPL, amidst the hustle and bustle of youth, we will see some cricketers who have been associated with the first edition of the league since 2008. A total of 15 such cricketers will take the field in IPL-17 who had also played in the first IPL of 2008. These cricketers are legendary Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings), Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bangalore), Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians), Shikhar Dhawan (Punjab Kings), Ravindra Jadeja (CSK), Ajinkya Rahane (CSK), Piyush Chawla (Mumbai), Ishant Sharma (Delhi Capitals), Amit Mishra (Lucknow Supergiants) and Dinesh Karthik (RCB). Two of these, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Shikhar Dhawan will leave their mark as captains.

 

Dhoni, Virat, Rohit, Shikhar will have their 17th IPL

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik, and Shikhar Dhawan are the five cricketers who have played all IPLs since 2008. This will be the 17th IPL for all of them. Ravindra Jadeja 2010, Ajinkya Rahane 2010 and 2021, Ishant Sharma 2012, 1018, and 2022, Piyush Chawla 2020, 2022, and Amit Mishra could not play in the 2022 IPL. Ashwin was a part of the CSK team in 2008 but did not play any matches. He debuted in 2009.

 

Manish and Saha have also playing since 2008

Apart from this, Manish Pandey has also been playing IPL since 2008. Then he was a part of the RCB team. Manish is the first Indian to score a century in IPL. He did this in 2009. This year he will be seen playing for KKR. Whereas, Wriddhiman Saha was earlier a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders team in IPL (2008) and played under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly. Currently, he is in the team of Gujarat Titans.

 

Leg spinner Piyush Chawla was also a part of the inaugural Indian Premier League season with Punjab Kings. Piyush is also included in the list of highest wicket-takers in the Indian Premier League. Piyush is currently a part of the Mumbai Indians team. He was a part of KKR and CSK during IPL. At the same time, 41-year-old leg spinner Amit Mishra is still performing brilliantly in the Indian Premier League. Mishra had a great IPL season with Lucknow last year. Mishra made his IPL debut for Delhi Daredevils. He is the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL.

 

Former Indian wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik made his IPL debut for Delhi Capitals in 2008. Karthik has been a part of many franchises like Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings (earlier Kings XI Punjab), Kolkata Knight Riders, and Gujarat Lions. It is believed that this could be his last season. At the same time, India's domestic superstar Rishi Dhawan made his late debut in the league, but he was a part of IPL 2008 with Punjab Kings (formerly Kings XI Punjab).

 

Apart from two seasons in IPL 2013 and IPL 2017, Dhawan has maintained his association with Punjab Kings. He made his debut in IPL in 2013. The right-arm fast bowler from Rae Bareli was a part of the Mumbai Indians camp in IPL 2008 but did not get a chance to play. Now Swapnil Singh is a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team for the upcoming IPL 2024 season.
