The team for the T20 World Cup to be held in West Indies and America from June 1 is to be selected before May 1. If sources are to be believed, the selection committee has prepared the outline of the team, but the selectors will test the performance of some cricketers in the IPL. These include Virat Kohli, who scored 4037 runs in 117 T-20 matches. Virat played his last T20 International against Afghanistan on January 17 in Bengaluru, in which he was out for zero.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has already announced the appointment of Rohit Sharma as the captain of the team in the World Cup, but he did not give a satisfactory answer on Virat Kohli. Virat can cement his selection in the team by playing tremendous innings for RCB in this IPL.
Most competition among wicketkeeper-batsmen
The most competition for selection is among wicketkeeper-batsmen. Delhi captain Pant has also jumped into this. Dhruv Jurel, Jitesh Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, and KL Rahul are also in the fray. Two wicketkeeper-batsmen can also be selected for the team. Coach Rahul Dravid has already said about Ishaan that he will have to put pressure on the selectors with his performance.
Although he has been dropped from the central contract for not playing Ranji matches, he will leave no stone unturned to satisfy the board with his performance. Similarly, Shreyas Iyer and Rituraj Gaikwad will also stake their claim for selection with their performance.
Rahul's good performance will be rewarded by selection in the World Cup team: Langer
