Irony: Punjab is most affected by Corona, yet neither mask nor safe physical distance was shown in the demonstration

On Tuesday, Shiromani Akali Dal demonstrated outside the residence of CM Captain Amarinder Singh in Siswan in connection with the sale of corona vaccine to private hospitals. During this, hundreds of Akali Dal and BSP workers were present on the spot.

However, the irony was that the corona-protective vaccine for which the Akalis demonstrated, the same corona-protecting rules were flouted during the demonstration. Safe physical distance was not followed during the demonstration. Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Badal was wearing a mask but the rest of the protesters were without a mask. It is important to mention here that the death rate from corona in Punjab is very high.

On Monday, 629 new corona infections were found in Punjab and 33 patients died. At present, the condition of 188 infected admitted in hospitals remains critical. So far 15602 people have lost their lives in the state due to Corona.

Earlier on June 7, a case was registered against 300 supporters, including veteran leaders of Akali and AAP, for gheraoing the residence of Health Minister Balbir Sidhu in Mohali. The government wants to signal by this action that the rules are equal for all. However, other parties are questioning the health minister's public meetings in the name of inaugurations during the Covid period. The leaders say that even after the complaint there, the police did not take action.

Because of Corona, there is a mini lockdown in Mohali. Not more than 10 people are allowed in ceremonies like weddings and funerals, but the Akalis and AAP demonstrated. In both these dharnas, leaders forgot to wear masks at many places, as well as the social distance was also violated. Something similar was seen in the sit-in demonstration held in Siswan on Tuesday.

Chief Minister had given orders to register a case

After protests by opposition parties outside the residence of the Health Minister, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had ordered DGP Punjab to immediately register a case against the leaders involved in the rallies. After this, the district police also swung into action. Media reports and videos of both the rallies were seen. During this, the whole situation was estimated and a case was registered against the leaders of both the parties at the Mataur police station.
