The National Testing Agency (NTA) has made changes in the pattern of the question paper of JEE Main 2025. NTA has said that Section B of the exam will no longer include optional questions. This change will apply to both Engineering (B.E./B.Tech, Paper 1) and Architecture and Planning (B.Arch/B.Planning, Paper 2) exams. For more details, candidates can also take the help of the official website jeemain.nta.ac.in.
The agency has said that the registration process will start soon. The notification states that Section B in JEE Main 2025 will have only 5 questions for each subject. All candidates will have to attempt all 5 questions for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech), Paper 2A (B.Arch), and Paper 2B (B.Planning), in which no option will be given.
How was the pattern?
Let us tell you that the exam structure of the last four years had a total of 90 questions. Section A had 20 questions for each subject from Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. At the same time, Section B had 10 questions from each subject. Candidates were required to solve 5-5 questions from 3 subjects in section B.
25 questions from these subjects
But in the year 2025, the agency will follow the old pattern of the exam. There will be 25 questions from each subject in Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. This change will affect the way of preparation for the students, as they will have to answer all the questions. The exam agency has asked the candidates to keep an eye on the official site. So that they do not miss any updates.
Exam on the old pattern
Additional questions were included in 2021 to address the educational challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, now that the World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared COVID-19 a public health emergency, the agency has decided to revert the exam pattern to its old form.
