PCS officer Jyoti Maurya, surrounded by many serious allegations including love affair and corruption, has got relief for the time being. Taking a U-turn, husband Alok has withdrawn the complaint. Alok applied in this regard before the inquiry committee on Monday. The committee will submit the report to the Divisional Commissioner in a day or two.
Alok had made several serious allegations against Jyoti including her involvement in corruption. A complaint was also made to the government about this. In this regard, on the instructions of the government, Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant constituted a three-member inquiry committee under the chairmanship of Additional Commissioner Amrit Lal Bind.
The committee had earlier called Alok for questioning on August 9. At that time, Alok had asked for 20 days to record the statement and provide evidence. After this Alok was called on 28 August.
In this sequence, Alok appeared before the committee on Monday, but instead of recording the statement and providing evidence in favor of the allegations, he handed over the prayer letter to the members. It was written in it that he was withdrawing the complaint in full consciousness and without any pressure.
Alok, who came out after handing over the prayer, only said that he had withdrawn the complaint. Apart from this, he remained silent on every question. Amrit Lal Bind, chairman of the inquiry committee, says that Alok has given an application to withdraw the complaint. The report will be submitted to the Divisional Commissioner.
Apart from this, he also refused to say anything. Now Jyoti Maurya will not be called for questioning or not even on this he did not give a clear answer. Although the officers say that there is no basis left for questioning Jyoti.
The government will decide on the investigation of corruption allegations
Jyoti Maurya may have got immediate relief after her husband Alok withdrew the complaint, but the final decision regarding the investigation of the corruption case has to be taken by the government.
According to the officers, the main basis for setting up the inquiry committee is Alok's complaint. In such a situation, after the withdrawal of the complaint, the powers of the committee become limited. Apart from this, the complaint should be accompanied by an affidavit for investigation against a gazetted officer.
Even before an affidavit was taken from Alok in this regard, he withdrew the complaint. In such a situation, the inquiry committee will submit the report on this basis, but there are many serious allegations against Jyoti apart from being involved in corruption. This whole thing will also be in the report of the inquiry committee. In such a situation, the investigation of corruption can continue even further. According to the officers, the final decision on this has to be taken by the government.
Alok kept avoiding answering even on August 9
Alok, who made serious allegations against Jyoti, has been avoiding answering the questions of the inquiry committee even before. Alok was first called for questioning on August 9, but he had met Additional Commissioner Amrit Lal Bind, chairman of the committee, a day earlier.
On the same day, Jyoti also met the Additional Commissioner and tried to present her point, but the committee directed her to record her statement on the date fixed. In this sequence, Alok appeared before the committee on August 9 but avoided answering the questions asked by the members. After this, Alok asked for 20 days to record the statement.
Divorce case pending in court
Alok Maurya and Jyoti Maurya were married in 2010. In 2009, Alok was selected as a Class IV employee in the Panchayati Raj Department. After this he got Jyoti's studies done. In the year 2015, Jyoti was selected for the post of SDM. Jyoti got 3rd rank and overall 16th rank among women from the Public Service Commission. Everyone was very happy. Twin girls were born in 2015.
Alok had been accused of recovering lakhs of rupees every month
Alok, the husband of PCS officer Jyoti Maurya, had sent a complaint letter to the government accusing Jyoti of extorting five to six lakh rupees every month. In support of his complaint, Alok had also attached the photocopies of the pages of the diary, in which the complete account of the transactions was written. After receiving the complaint, the government handed over the investigation to Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant. The commissioner has formed a three-member committee for the investigation, which includes Additional Commissioner Administration Amrutlal and two other members.
The investigation report has not yet been received. If Alok has withdrawn the complaint then the report of the inquiry committee will be looked into. Legal opinion will also be taken on that. Further action will be taken based on this.
