South cinema's veteran actor Kamal Haasan has once again come under controversy. Some time ago, he was criticized for the romantic scene with Trisha Krishnan in his film 'Thug Life'.
But this time one of his statements has created a ruckus in Karnataka. Kamal Haasan made such a statement at the audio launch event of 'Thug Life', after which pro-Kannada organizations and leaders have opened a front against him.
What did Kamal Haasan say?
During the audio launch event, Kamal Haasan said in Tamil, 'Uyire Urave Tamile', which means 'My life and I have a relationship with Tamil.' Kannada actor Shivarajkumar was also present during this time. Referring to Shivarajkumar, Kamal said, 'Shivarajkumar is a part of my family, who lives in another state. When I said that my family is Tamil, you are also included in it, because your language is born from Tamil.' This statement of Kamal Haasan created controversy by saying that the Kannada language originated from Tamil.
Protest erupted in Karnataka.
As soon as Kamal Haasan's statement came out, pro-Kannada organizations reacted sharply. Kannada Rakshana Vedika in particular called his statement insulting. Angry protesters tore the posters of 'Thug Life' in Bengaluru and raised slogans against Kamal Haasan.
Organization chief Praveen Shetty said, 'Kamal Haasan said that the Kannada language was born later than Tamil, which is wrong. If he wants to work in Karnataka, he will have to refrain from making such statements.'
The actor warned of an agitation.
The protesters warned that if Kamal Haasan repeated such a thing in the future, there would be a big agitation against him. Praveen Shetty also said that he was planning to throw black ink on Kamal Haasan, but the actor left before the event. This controversy has once again brought Kamal Haasan into the limelight.
