A black fungus, a patient of mucormycosis, died a week ago at Covid Hospital in Hailat, Kanpur. A fungal infection had spread throughout his brain. Apart from this, a patient is admitted to Hailat in a critical condition. The patient is on a ventilator. Due to this, it is not possible to get an MRI test done.
Now that the number of patients with black fungus is increasing, this case has got the attention of experts. Dr. Alok Verma, Head of the Department of Neurology, GSVM Medical College, said that the patient who had confirmed black fungus died a week ago. Her infection had spread. There is another suspected patient right now.
It will also be investigated. The condition becomes more severe as the infection spreads to the brain. Where there is a fungus, that part has to be cut and removed. It is then treated. If the brain, nose MRI or biopsy is done in the beginning, it gets caught.
Infection in normal dust remains
Dr. Alok Verma says that the infection of black fungus lives in normal dust. It is put in the body of people. But due to the immunity of the body, it is not affected. Immunity is often reduced by the use of steroids. With this, if uncontrolled diabetes occurs, it spreads very fast. In this, the patient gets only four to five days.
