If the situation remains terrible in India, then the world will be the same: USIBC President

If the situation in India remains dreadful due to Corona, then the situation of the world will also remain dreadful. A major group advocating for increasing trade between India and the United States has said this. The group has said this at a time when the US corporate is fully helping India's efforts to overcome the Covid-epidemic.

Nisha Desai Viswal, president of the US-India Business Council (UASIBC), said in an interview with PTI-Bhasha, "The speed with which the Covid-19 crisis spread in India and took the entire country into its limelight." The perception of help has increased in the community at a rapid pace towards India. He said that American companies were probably the first to realize that the situation was moving in a sinister direction. Companies were getting information about this from their employees in India. This is the reason that these companies started working in this direction soon and two weeks ago the American business community started mobilizing resources.

The global workforce, comprising the CEOs of America's top 40 companies to respond quickly to help with the epidemic, announced the sending of 1,000 ventilators and 25,000 oxygen concentrators to India to assist without delay.

He said that the workforce through its Steering Committee is coordinating with the White House, the State Department, and the US Agency on International Development, as well as with the Government of India, on the grants given by the companies. Last week, this committee had a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and then on Wednesday with officials of the NITI Aayog.

Companies that help India include companies such as Facebook, Amazon to Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Amway, Qualcomm, VMWare, Union Pacific, McCormick, and Cordial Health to take ventilators and other supplies to India. With this, Accenture and Microsoft have worked in this direction. IBM has played a key role in the overall effort. Biswal also praised the efforts made by Indo-US Strategic and Partnership Forum in mobilizing resources such as oxygen cylinders and oxygen concentrators. The efforts that have taken place under a united coordinated structure may not have happened before, such an example is not before us.

Puneet Ranjan, CEO of Deloitte India, told PTI-Language that it is time to help India. The world should help India by coming forward to face the challenge of the Covid-19 crisis at this time. He said, "This is a global crisis. If the virus is in one side environment and changes its form, it will have an impact on everyone. No one is safe until everyone is safe. That is why we should take steps, this is the right thing to do. It is also working to be done in the right direction for our people of the business community.
