Actor Ranveer Singh's name has been making headlines recently due to the Kantara Chapter 1 mimicry controversy. On Tuesday, the Karnataka High Court heard the matter, reprimanding Ranveer Singh and stating that he has no right to hurt religious sentiments under the guise of talent.
However, the Karnataka High Court granted Ranveer Singh relief and refrained from taking any coercive action against him. Let's find out what the court's instructions were regarding the Kantara controversy.
The court's rebuke to Ranveer
A day ago, news broke that veteran actor Ranveer Singh had approached the Karnataka High Court seeking relief in the FIR filed against him regarding the Kantara controversy. Now, a hearing was held on February 24th, where the court took a strict stance and said:
Whether you are Ranveer Singh or anyone else, your responsibility as an actor increases even more because people are influenced by you. You should not use such unbridled language, nor do you have the right to hurt religious sentiments under the guise of talent. Ranveer Singh's imitation of a divine character was inappropriate. Talent or popularity cannot be above the law. The internet never forgets; whatever you did will always be recorded.
However, the Karnataka High Court has also directed that no strict action be taken against Ranveer Singh. He has also been instructed to fully cooperate in the investigation of the case.
Next hearing on March 2
The next hearing regarding the controversy surrounding Ranveer Singh's mocking of the Kaantara Chapter 1 Daiva joke will be held in the Karnataka High Court on March 2. It should be noted that during the closing ceremony of the 56th Goa Film Festival last year, Ranveer Singh imitated the Daiva scene on stage in front of Kaantara Chapter 1 actor Rishabh Shetty.
