The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday completed the second round of polygraph tests on the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital (RGKMCH) Sandip Ghosh as part of its probe into the rape-murder case of a woman doctor at the institute.
CBI sources had earlier said the test would be conducted by a team from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL). Earlier, CBI officials had conducted a polygraph test on Sanjay Roy, an accused arrested in connection with the incident.
Meanwhile, the CBI's Anti-Corruption Branch on August 25 raided several places linked to Sandip Ghosh and his relatives in Kolkata, West Bengal. On August 24, the CBI registered an FIR against Dr Sandip Ghosh based on directions from the Calcutta High Court.
The High Court had ordered a corruption probe
The probe was initiated after a single bench of the High Court ordered the CBI to probe alleged corruption at the medical college. The Calcutta High Court has given the CBI three weeks to submit a progress report of the investigation, which is to be submitted on September 17.
The incident with the doctor happened on August 9
Earlier this month, the Supreme Court, while hearing a suo motu case related to the incident, ordered the security of Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital to be handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9.
