Today, a full month has passed since the case of rape and murder of a female trainee doctor in West Bengal. But, the state government, police, and CBI are still empty-handed. This has caused resentment across the country. At the same time, the uproar continues in the state. The situation is tense. Junior doctors are continuously protesting in the health building of the Medical College and Hospital by doing RG. They are not seeing anything day and night.
This is the matter
It is worth noting that since the body of the trainee doctor was found in the seminar room of the hospital on August 9, nationwide protests have been held against the incident. The police had arrested Kolkata Police's civil volunteer Sanjay Roy in this connection. The TMC government and West Bengal Police are in the dock. There is a constant reprimand from the Supreme Court. Seeing the tension increasing, the Calcutta High Court handed over the investigation to the CBI on August 13. Earlier, Kolkata Police was investigating the case.
'Supreme Court asked doctors to go back to work'
At the same time, after the incident, doctors across the country came out on the streets. Due to this, patients started facing problems. On this, September 9, the Supreme Court had urged all the doctors to return to work by 5 pm on September 10. The apex court had warned that if they continue to remain absent from work, disciplinary action will be taken.
Still, doctors are adamant.
However, doctors are still protesting continuously to get justice for the victim. Morning pictures have emerged from the Health Bhavan in the Salt Lake area of Kolkata. It can be seen that junior doctors are continuously protesting against the incident. They are demanding justice.
They are disappointed sitting in the AC room...
On continuing the protest by junior doctors, Dr. Arnab Mukhopadhyay said, 'We have seen that a public meeting was organized by the state government. Minister of State for Health (West Bengal) Chandrima Bhattacharya was present. He said a few things, including that he wants to discuss things with us with an open heart. We are also waiting for this. It will be better and we have demanded that the discussion be telecast live to maintain transparency. They say they are frustrated, while I want to say they are frustrated sitting in an AC room, while we are frustrated sitting here on the road. We have all channels of discussion open, but our terms are not unreasonable... We will continue our protest.'
The culprits will be awarded the death penalty: TMC leader Kunal Ghosh.
Addressing the protest being carried out by junior doctors, Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh said that the demand for justice is justified. We want the CBI to complete its investigation and the culprits will be awarded the death penalty.
He said, 'We want the CBI to complete its investigation and the culprits will be awarded the death penalty. We will not comment on the agitation being carried out by junior doctors. Yesterday there was a deadline of 5 pm to resume work. The Chief Minister was waiting for them. We are also supporting the demand for justice, but many patients are being harassed. We want the CBI to investigate as soon as possible.'
