Amidst the controversy, Khar police have sent a summon to Kunal Kamra's house and asked him to appear before the investigating officer at 11 am today. Kunal is currently not in Mumbai. Earlier, MIDC police had registered an FIR against Kunal Kamra for his comments during a stand-up comedy show. The case has been handed over to Khar police for further investigation.

Comedian Kunal Kamra commented on Maharashtra politics in his show held in Mumbai. Without naming Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, he said something that infuriated Shiv Sena workers. He had taken the help of a film song regarding the veteran leader's change of party. Enraged by this controversial comment, Shiv Sena youth workers vandalized Hotel Unicontinental in the Khar area of Mumbai on Sunday. Kamra's show was shot in this hotel. After the uproar, an FIR was lodged against Shiv Sena Yuva Sena (Shinde faction) general secretary Rahul Kanal and 19 others. Later, 12 including Rahul were arrested and were later granted bail. Kamra has also been booked in the controversial remarks case.
