India's largest geopolitical and geoeconomic conference, the Raisina Dialogue, begins today in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 11th edition on Thursday. The three-day event will run from March 5th to March 7th. This prestigious forum will bring together leaders and experts from around the world to discuss global challenges.
Finland's President Alexander Stubb will be the chief guest at the inaugural session and will also deliver a keynote address. The event is being organized in partnership with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) and the Ministry of External Affairs of India. Governments and think tanks from around the world are also participating.
What is the Raisina Dialogue 2026 theme this year?
This year, the Raisina Dialogue's theme is "Sanskar - Claim, Adjustment, Advancement." Six key topics will be discussed over the three days. These include issues such as global power balance, climate change, technological development, and trade-related challenges. This time, the discussions will focus on the tensions between traditional alliances and a 'technopolar' world.
Approximately 2,700 participants are expected to attend the conference in person. The proceedings will be livestreamed on digital platforms worldwide, with millions of people watching. Representatives from 110 countries are participating in the conference, including ministers, former heads of state, parliamentarians, and military commanders.
Foreign ministers from several countries will also participate.
Several prominent foreign guests have arrived in Delhi to participate in this dialogue. These include Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Malta Ian Borg, Foreign Minister of Bhutan Lyonpo D.N. Dhungyel, and Foreign Minister of Mauritius Dhananjay Ramphul. Seychelles Foreign Minister Barry Faure and Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath will also be part of the event.
The conference will conclude with a discussion on India's long-term development roadmap. The vision for a 'Developed India 2047' will also be discussed. This vision aims to make India a developed economy by the centenary of India's independence. The Raisina Dialogue has now become one of the world's leading strategic forums.
