The fire in a Kuwait building claimed 49 lives. The fire was so fierce that many people were forced to jump from the building as there was no way to save their lives in the smoke.
Saved life by jumping into a water tank
Nalinaksham, a resident of Tirikripur in North Kerala, was stuck on the third floor of the building. Seeing the flames of the fire, he decided in less than a second and jumped into a water tank near the building. Due to this jump, he suffered injuries in his ribs and other parts of his body, but his life was saved.
Nalinaksham's relatives living near the incident site found him on time and took him to the hospital. Relatives said that when he was taken out of the water, there was no movement in his body. Blood was also coming out of his mouth. Later he underwent surgery and now his condition is improving. However, not everyone proved so lucky.
27-year-old Srihari from Kerala died due to burns. His father Pradeep identified the body from the tattoo on his hand. Pradeep said that the officials called him and asked him to come to the hospital to identify his son's body. The face of the body was completely disfigured. Son is not picking up the phone, no information is available
The family of Kerala resident chemical engineer Sajan George does not know the condition of George in Kuwait. He has not picked up the phone since the arson incident, nor has his death been confirmed. George's friends told the family that George was probably in the same building at the time of the incident, but they were also not sure about it.
The fire was caused by a short circuit, not a cylinder
The fire in the Kuwait building was not caused by a cylinder explosion in the kitchen, but due to a short circuit in the electrical wires. Kuwait Fire Service has revealed the cause of the fire after an investigation on Thursday. So far 49 people have died in the fire, and more than 50 are injured.
Several accused detained
Kuwait authorities have detained one of its citizens and several residents for violating safety rules regarding arson in the building. Officials are currently investigating the incident and identifying those responsible. At least 24 of the 45 Indians who died in the fire have been confirmed to be from Kerala. This number may be higher.
This number has been given by a government agency called Norka Roots for Keralites living abroad and the families of the deceased are still waiting for confirmation from the government. Seven people from Kerala are seriously injured.
Norka Secretary K Vasuki said that the central government has arranged a special plane to bring the bodies. The deceased include Muralidharan who had been working in Kuwait for the last 32 years and 10 of these years were posted as a senior supervisor in the company that owns the building.
7 of those who lost their lives in the Kuwait fire are from Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu's Minority Welfare and Overseas Tamil Welfare Minister KS Mastan said that 7 of the Indians who lost their lives in the Kuwait fire are from Tamil Nadu. Mastan said this information has been given by the Tamil Sangam of Kuwait. So far the Indian Embassy has not given any information about this. Three of the dead are from UP. Agency

The Kerala government has issued a statement confirming only 19 deaths. The government has announced to give Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh each to the injured. A decision to this effect was taken in the state cabinet meeting chaired by CM Pinarayi Vijayan.
The Kerala government has decided to immediately send its Health Minister Veena George to Kuwait. Veena George will monitor and help in the treatment of the injured there. Apart from this, she will also provide the necessary help in bringing back the bodies.
