The crowd of devotees returning from the city side of Prayagraj Junction after bathing in Sangam suddenly increased after 10 pm. When a stampede-like situation arose at 10.30 pm, the railway administration stopped the entry of devotees to the junction to avoid any untoward incident.
Due to this, people standing on the road started making noise. The devotees present at the passenger shelter of the junction started being seated in the special train. Only after this, the situation could become normal. During this time, passengers were not allowed to enter the junction for about 30 minutes.
Due to the huge crowd of devotees, there was an atmosphere of chaos at Prayagraj Junction for a long time. To control the situation, the police and railway administration took caution and diverted the devotees towards Khusro Bagh.
A message was also sent in Khusro Bagh that no passenger should be allowed to come out from there for some time. During this time, announcements were continuously made outside the junction and at Khusro Bagh that passengers should be patient.
As the crowd increased, trains were sent from platforms one to five.
In a short while, they will be sent to the train going to their destination. As the crowd increased, half a dozen trains were sent from platform one to five in turn towards Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay, Kanpur, Manikpur route.
RPF and railway staff queued up the passengers and took them to the station
This cleared a lot of the crowd. After this, the passenger shelter of Prayagraj Junction was vacated within just half an hour. After the shelter was vacated, devotees were allowed to go to the station from Khusro Bagh. RPF and railway staff queued up the passengers and took them to the station, due to which traffic became smooth again at night.
