On the night of the incident, when the Kolkata rape victim had a panic attack and pleaded to be taken to a hospital, the accused treated her worse than demons. They gave her an inhaler not out of concern for her but so that she could recover and be raped, the public prosecutor claimed in a Kolkata court.
Earlier, the 24-year-old law student was allegedly raped at South Calcutta Law College in Kolkata's Kasba area on June 25. Manojit Mishra, a 31-year-old former student of the college, was arrested as the main accused in the case. Apart from this, two students identified as 19-year-old Zaib Ahmed and 20-year-old Pramit Mukhopadhyay, and a security guard have also been arrested.
Manojit raped, Ahmed and Pramit recorded
Earlier in her complaint, the student had said that she had a panic attack before being attacked. During this time, Manojjit asked one of the other accused to bring an inhaler for her. The victim used the inhaler and felt a little better. After this she tried to escape from the clutches of the beasts, but they dragged her to the security guard's room and Manojjit allegedly raped her, while Ahmed and Pramit recorded the act.
The public prosecutor made a shocking revelation.
During the hearing in a Kolkata court seeking 10-day police custody of the accused, the public prosecutor said that the victim's allegations are being confirmed through medical and electronic evidence. The prosecutor said, "First, the victim was brutally attacked. When her condition worsened, she was given an inhaler. The inhaler was not given so that she could recover, but so that as soon as she recovered, she could be brutally tortured again."
Three accused in police custody till July 8, guard till Friday
Presenting his case for 10-day custody, the prosecutor said the investigation was still incomplete and several other aspects were being probed. However, the defence lawyer appearing for Manojit and the two students argued that his clients were cooperating fully. Asking if the victim's phone had been seized and call detail records collected, the lawyer called the case a conspiracy against his clients. The court then sent Manojit and the two students to Kolkata Police custody till July 8. Apart from this, the security guard was sent to custody till Friday.
