Due to heavy rains, India's financial capital Mumbai came to a standstill on Saturday. It has been raining here all night long and since this morning. There is no hope of getting relief from this soon. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the capital of Maharashtra. Public transport services have come to a halt.

According to the Meteorological Department, waves up to 4.24 meters high will be seen in the sea at 11:28 am. At the same time, heavy rains are also falling. In such a situation, the risk of flooding may increase. A yellow alert has been issued in Mumbai and Palghar, while a more severe orange alert has been issued for Thane.

 

Central Mumbai recorded an average rainfall of 78 mm yesterday. At the same time, eastern and western Mumbai received 57 mm and 67 mm of rain respectively. The Meteorological Department has predicted moderate to heavy rains in the city.

 

The movement of trains slowed down.

The public transport services of the capital of Maharashtra have been greatly affected. Incessant rains have led to flooding of roads and railway tracks, causing delays in suburban train services. Trains are running 15 to 20 minutes behind schedule. Train movement has slowed down due to waterlogging on tracks at Chunabhatti on the Harbour Line. Besides, the Central Railway main line faced additional delays due to a technical glitch in a train engine. The Western Railway said suburban services are running. All three lines, Central, Western, and Harbour, are running with a delay of 10 minutes.

 

Andheri subway reopened

 

At the same time, the Andheri subway was closed due to waterlogging. However, it was opened later in the day after the water receded. Thane district has been receiving heavy rainfall since midnight. Water has accumulated in the Thane Vandana bus depot and the local market, disrupting daily activities.

 

Schools will remain closed here.

 

Schools across the district have been closed due to a heavy rain warning in Nagpur. District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar said that all schools will remain closed today. The situation in Bhiwandi city is serious. Due to heavy rains since morning, water has accumulated in many parts of the city, including knee-deep water in the Teen Batti area of ​​Sabzi Bazar. If the rain continues, there is a danger of water entering houses and shops in many low-lying areas.
