Which is this time on 1st March. It is written in Shiva Purana that on Mahashivratri, the creation started from Shivling. On this day Lord Vishnu and Brahma Ji first worshiped the Shivling. Shiva worship is done throughout the day on this festival, but in the scriptures, the special importance of worshiping at night has been told. There is also a belief associated with this festival that Lord Shiva and Parvati were married on this day.
