Manipur Crisis: Violence has been going on in Manipur for the last one and a half months. Every day there are reports of violent clashes between the local people and the security forces. Meanwhile, the Spear Corps of the Indian Army has informed that armed miscreants fired indiscriminately from Kanto Sabal towards Chingmang village during the night of 18/19 June.
Because of the presence of villagers in the area, the army units carried out controlled retaliatory firing. An Army jawan was injured in the action and was taken to Military Hospital Limakhong and his condition is stable. The Indian Army informed that additional columns have been inducted in the area and joint operations are in progress.
The incident occurred a day after the flag march
The incident comes a day after the Indian Army conducted a flag march in the violence-hit area of Imphal Valley. The authorities have also decided to relax the curfew from 5 am to 5 pm on June 18. The Manipur government has suspended internet services till June 20 amid the violence.

Earlier, the Twitter handle of the forum of prominent tribal leaders was blocked. The Twitter handle of the tribal forum Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) was blocked.
A message has been written on the Twitter page of the ITLF media cell stating that the account has been suspended in India in response to a legal demand. The ITLF criticized the move, terming it as a violation of freedom of expression. Apart from this, it has been described as a shocking act of censorship.
Houses of BJP leaders burnt
Amid violence in Manipur, a godown was set on fire near the Imphal Palace grounds, and then also tried to burn the houses of BJP leaders. The violent people then also clashed with the security personnel deployed there. Civilians who have been seriously injured in overnight clashes between mob and security forces in Imphal city. The firing was reported from Kwakta in Manipur's Bishnupur district and Kangwai in Churachandpur district throughout the night.
