
The Congress party has announced the names of six candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections in five states. Senior leaders Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Vem Narendra Reddy have been nominated from Telangana. Reddy is an advisor to the Chief Minister of Telangana. While sitting, Rajya Sabha member and tribal leader Phulo Devi Netam has been nominated from Chhattisgarh once again.
The party has nominated Karamveer Singh Bauddh from Haryana, Christopher Tilak from Tamil Nadu, and Anurag Sharma from Himachal Pradesh.
Phulo Devi Candidate for the Second Consecutive Time
54-year-old Phulo Devi Netam hails from Kondagaon district in Chhattisgarh and has long been active in tribal politics. Congress first elected her to the Rajya Sabha in 2020, and now, before the end of her term, the party has nominated her for the second consecutive time.

Party candidate from Haryana, Karamveer Singh, hails from the Buddhist Dalit community and has long been active in the party's organization, strengthening the party. Congress candidate Anurag Sharma from Himachal Pradesh is considered one of the party's emerging young faces and has consistently played an active role in state politics. Meanwhile, candidate Christopher Tilak from Tamil Nadu has been associated with the organization for a long time and is considered instrumental in strengthening the party's presence in South India.

The Rajya Sabha elections for 37 seats in 10 states are scheduled to be held on March 16. Votes will be counted at 5 p.m. that day. The terms of the 37 elected members from Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Telangana will expire in April, leaving vacant seats for the election of new members. The last date for filing nominations is today, March 5, after which the scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on March 6. Candidates can withdraw their nominations until March 9.
