MI vs DC: 'Shift the match from Wankhede...', why did the co-owner of Delhi Capitals make this big demand from BCCI?

Delhi Capitals (DC) team co-owner Parth Jindal has written a letter to BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). He has requested that the match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) be shifted from Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium to another place.

This is because this match is very important and due to bad weather in Mumbai, this match may be washed away by rain. 'Yellow Alert' has been issued in Mumbai. In such a situation, Jindal has appealed to BCCI to shift the venue.

DC co-owner requests BCCI to change the venue of the match.

Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal, in his email, reminded BCCI how the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was shifted to Lucknow due to bad weather in Bangalore. Therefore, he requested that the same be done with the match to be held in Mumbai today.

He wrote, "Heavy rain is forecast in Mumbai and there is a high possibility that the match will be washed out due to rain. So just like the RCB and SRH match was shifted from Bengaluru, this match should also be shifted, because the forecast of rain in Mumbai is known 6 days in advance."

Very important match for DC and MI

Delhi Capitals currently have 13 points. If they win both their last matches, they will become the fourth team to reach the playoffs, but if they lose today's match, they will be out.

What will happen if the DC vs MI match is cancelled?

If the match is cancelled due to rain, Mumbai Indians will have 15 points and Delhi Capitals will have 14 points. If after this Mumbai Indians defeat Punjab Kings in their last league match, they will reach the playoffs, whatever be the result of the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals. This shows how important today's match is.
