Srinagar, Feb 24 (IANS) Kashmir valley will receive moderate to heavy snowfall during the next 48 hours, the local Met office said here Tuesday.
"Moderate to heavy snowfall is expected in the Valley during the next 48 hours. Travellers on the Srinagar - Jammu national highway are advised to exercise caution while undertaking the journey during this period," an official of the Met office said in summer capital Srinagar Tuesday.
Srinagar city recorded 2 mm rainfall till 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The highest, 9.4 mm of rainfall, was recorded in the border district of Kupwara during this period.
There were traces of rainfall in Pahalgam area, whereas Banihal recorded 0.7 mm of rain in the morning.
Kargil and Leh towns of Ladakh region recorded 1.2 mm and 0.2 mm of rain respectively.
There would be a decrease in precipitation from Feb 26 onwards.
The maximum and minimum temperatures in Srinagar would hover around six and two degree Celsius during the next two to three days.
In Jammu city there is a possibility of thunderstorm accompanied by rain where the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 17 and 12 degree Celsius during the next 24 hours.
