Kolkata, April 22 (IANS) India's first woman IPS officer Kiran Bedi Tuesday batted for BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, saying he could take India to the "next level" as prime minister.
"I understand instinctive leadership. Therefore, I do see very positive qualities of leadership in Narendra Modi compared to many others.
"He is tried and tested and I believe he can take the country to the next level," Bedi said in her address at a session "Mandating Women Security" organised by the MCCI Ladies Forum.
Bedi also clarified why she was distancing herself from social worker Anna Hazare's movement.
"I have never been electorally inclined. Each one has their inclinations. There has to be mutual respect for each other's inclination but the fact is I was clear in my mind... about the consistency... that's why I am in the movement... I think the thinking changed for others," she said.
