After taking 24 wickets in the ODI World Cup 2023, Mohammed Shami has joined the list of the most popular cricketers in the country. Shami's career has been full of ups and downs and he has achieved this position by overcoming every difficulty. He will be a very important bowler for the country in the coming times. Being a fast bowler, his career cannot be very long, but by learning from James Anderson, Shami can also prolong his career. He has made surprising revelations related to his life in an interview, knowing which any fan can hope that Shami can also play international cricket at the age of 40.

Shami said that he always tries to bowl as per the needs of the team. On not being able to play the initial matches in the ODI World Cup 2023, he said that he felt that he would play from the beginning, but after not playing three matches, he was a little worried. However, after this, he got a chance and performed well. On becoming the Indian with the highest wicket-taker in the World Cup, Shami said that he does not pay much attention to the record. Shami also said that only after bowling the ball you will know how much bounce there is and how much swing there is. So why waste your mind by seeing the pitch in advance?

Shami further said that he comes from the village and likes the same lifestyle. He does not like much pretense or city life. On his becoming a cricketer, he said that his father and elder brother used to play cricket. Both were fast bowlers. For this reason, Shami also started playing cricket and became a fast bowler. He didn't even realize when he got completely immersed in cricket. Shami also said that matches are always given by the bowlers. No matter how much headlines batting grabs, it is the bowlers who win the match.

Shami started playing as a batsman with leather balls for Duke School. He has also done wicketkeeping in tennis ball cricket. However, fast bowling has always been his priority. He started playing cricket after seeing his elder brother. His elder brother was a good player, but due to appendicitis, he had to leave cricket. In such a situation, he pushed Shami forward. In a match for the school, his brother made Shami open the innings and Shami scored a century in 34-35 balls, even though he had no experience of playing with a leather ball before. Shami had scored 108 runs in this match.

Even after this, he continued playing cricket with the help of his elder brother and the passion of becoming a cricketer arose in him. Then he saw that the stadium was 30 kilometers away from home. His father refused to give him the car. In such a situation, traveling 60 kilometers daily by bus was a difficult task. Going to the stadium, he learned technical things for the first time and started training with the boys preparing for the army. He also said that he went to the gym for the first time while playing Ranji Trophy.

Left UP after elder brother insulted him

Shami told me in this conversation that he was not very disappointed when he was not selected for the UP Ranji team in the first year. He tried the second year also. 1600 boys had come for the trials and selection had to be done in three days. In such a situation, Shami's elder brother went to the chief selector and asked to give Shami a chance. The selector said that if you can move my chair then your brother will be selected. Shami's elder brother said I can also turn the chair upside down, but I don't want that, if I have the strength then do it. The selector replied that people with power have no business here. Shami's brother tore the form and said that now we will not try for UP.

After making up his mind to leave UP, Shami talked to his coach and his coach made arrangements for him to play in Tripura. However, Shami could not play for Tripura either. After wasting three years, his coach in Kolkata arranged a trial in a club. When he went for the trial, the pitch was cement and there was no space for Shami to complete his long run-up. When he told the coach that there was less space, the coach said that he would have to give trials in this field. He bowled 10 balls and dismissed the batsman 3-4 times. After this, when we went to eat, we got bread and gram (Ghughni). Shami was waiting for rice and vegetables, but he had to eat only this.

Shami had gone to Kolkata with Rs 2500 and his father's ATM card, but he did not even know how to use the card. On asking his fellow players, he got a room for Rs 700, but for two days the coach did not answer about his selection. On the third day, Shami told the coach that he had only one thousand rupees left. In such a situation, the club captain came to meet him and said that your selection was 99 percent certain, but the club owner will see. Only after this, you will be selected.

Regarding the 2015 World Cup, Shami said that at that time the Indian team was in Australia for four months. There was swelling in his knee in the very first test and it kept increasing. When the World Cup came, Shami's knee was not in a condition to play. Dhoni and the doctor said that you can get the surgery done now or after the World Cup. During the World Cup, after every match, the entire team used to go to the hotel and Shami used to go to the hospital. At the same time, steroids were injected into his knee every day. The entire World Cup went by smoothly, but after five overs in the semi-final, he was not feeling his leg. He went out and returned and bowled five overs, but Team India lost. Shami was more sad about losing the match than his leg.

After the operation, the doctor said that it would be difficult for you to even walk properly. Playing is far away. However, Shami rehabbed well and made a comeback. Regarding his personal life, Shami said that his family was very simple and there were never any such problems. He was very upset for 4-5 days due to the dispute with his wife, but after convincing, he calmed down. It was a difficult time, but he did not run away and came out victorious.

While talking further, Shami made fun of Pakistan. Responding to the absurd allegations of Pakistani players, he said, improve yourself, brother.

Talking about his fast pace in the 2015 World Cup, he said that the way he dismissed Chris Gayle in Perth. He liked it very much. He said that Suresh Raina had come to him and said that the ball was not visible and that if the catch was missed then he would not complain. He said that more than one lakh people had reached a city in Australia to watch the Indian match. The people there were surprised to see this crowd.

Regarding his food, he said that he likes non-veg food and keeps looking for it everywhere. Expressing his love for biryani, Shami said that all his friends used to eat biryani in his room and keep the plate outside his room. In this way, he became infamous for eating biryani.

Shami also told what sets him apart from other players. He told that when the other players go home during the off-season, their training stops, but when Shami goes home, the young players and their friends come to him and practice because they know that Shami's balls are very good for him. But whatever they will get by practicing. It is not to be found anywhere else. Because of this, their fitness and rhythm are maintained.

Expressing his fondness for driving, Shami said that he has ridden bicycles, bikes, cars, trucks, and buses, but now due to fear of accidents, he drives only cars. Narrating an incident from his childhood, Shami said that once he made a mistake while driving a tractor because his feet were not able to reach the brakes and he ran away leaving the tractor in the same condition.
