More disasters will come if developed countries do not fulfill their environmental promises: External Affairs Minister Jaishankar

On the environmental crisis, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said that countries responsible for global warming need to come forward and stop lying to the world. He warned that as it becomes clear that developed countries are not ready to fulfill their promises, more natural disasters will come. Addressing the Global Forum UAE Summit in Abu Dhabi on Monday, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar divided the discussion on the environment into two parts, saying that the first is to work on the environment and increase the capacity of green development.

The second part of environmental justice is difficult. There is a need to fulfill the promises made to developed countries. Especially those countries that play a big role in carbon emissions and have been promising to help others. The truth is that this country has been making false promises in front of the world. He comes up with a new argument and excuse at every environmental conference and keeps on avoiding the environmental problem. He said that developed countries are not yet serious about fulfilling their promises. This is adding to the frustration as the world situation is getting worse and worse.

The Union Minister criticized some views on the environment, saying that some labels like 'large emitters' are used to confuse the issue and target some countries. But the per capita emissions of that country may be only one-tenth of the world's. It is not the countries that emit the most carbon. Therefore, the people responsible for the environmental crisis need to be honest and truthful in this matter. These countries need to move forward and take appropriate steps. He said that countries like Ukraine are also affecting the environment. I believe that a country like India can play the role of a bridge.
