Navjot Sidhu became Majithia's neighbor in jail, got a new name, and can get parole only after four months

Navjot Singh Sidhu In Jail: After being sentenced in the 34-year-old road rage case, former Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu spent last night in Patiala Jail. He has now got a new name prisoner number 241383. In the night, Sidhu was kept in the prison library under the guise of jail. He is the neighbor of Shiromani Akali Dal leader and arch-rival Bikram Singh Majithia in jail.

 

Did not eat lentils and roti in jail at night, Navjot Singh Sidhu also looked restless

 

According to the information received from the jail sources, he has now been allotted barrack number 10 in the jail. It is also learned that Sidhu did not eat the roti and lentils available in the jail at night. He cited an allergy to wheat. Jail sources said that Sidhu ate only fruits and salads.

 

Navjot Singh Sidhu along with five other prisoners are lodged in barrack number 10 of Central Jail. Due to the small barrack, only four to five prisoners will be confined in it. After waking up early in the morning, Navjot Singh Sidhu, wearing a kurta pajama, sat in the barracks.

 

Sidhu will stay in the jail at a distance of about 500 meters from Majithia's barracks. According to the information, Majithia has been kept in barrack number 11. Additional security arrangements have been made outside the barracks of Sidhu and Majithia.

 

According to jail sources, Navjot Singh Sidhu also looked a bit restless at the night. He stayed overnight on the premises of the Central Jail library and will be shifted to barrack number 10 today. Bikram Majithaya's barrack is 800 meters away from here. The jail administration had deployed security personnel near the compound on Friday morning itself. Sidhu will have to wear prisoner attire, while Majithia can wear normal clothes as she is a hawala.

 

Sidhu will be able to meet his supporters and family only 2 days a week

 

Navjot Singh Sidhu will be able to meet his family and supporters only 2 days a week. As per jail rules, prisoners can meet their relatives on Tuesdays and Fridays. The under-trial prisoners have been given meeting times for the rest of the week from Monday to Saturday. Jailed Bikram Singh Majithia, being an under-trial prisoner, can meet for the rest of the day.

 

Sidhu's routine will be like this.

 

Starting the day at half-past five, biscuits or black gram with tea

 

In the Central Jail, the day of the prisoners starts at 5.30 pm.

 

Biscuit or black gram are given with tea at seven in the morning.

 

Six rotis, pulses, or vegetables are given at half-past eight.

 

After this, the prisoners have to do the work assigned by the jail authorities.

 

- There is a break from work at 5.30 pm.

 

Six rotis, pulses, or vegetables are given for dinner at six o'clock in the evening.

 

Prisoners are sent to the barracks at seven o'clock in the evening.

 

Prisoners can pray in religious places built on the jail premises before starting daily work and before going to the barracks.

- A mosquito net.

- Three pairs of underwear and a vest.

- Two towels.

- A copy-pen.

- A pair of shoes.

- Two pillow covers.

- Four kurta pajamas.

 

Five phone numbers sought from Sidhu

 

Navjot Singh Sidhu was asked for five phone numbers in jail. He will be able to talk to these people only from jail. Time will be allotted for this.

 

Diet as per doctor's advice

 

Navjot Sidhu's lawyer HPS Verma told that Sidhu has filed an application citing health and has demanded to provide food according to the diet plan as per the doctor's advice instead of the food available in the jail. Apart from this, he did not ask for any other facility.

 

Parole expected after four months

 

According to the rules, Sidhu can get parole after four months from the date of sentencing based on his behavior and the report of the jail superintendent. Considering the case profile, as per the latest notification by the Punjab government in this regard, Sidhu is likely to get parole for at least 28 days.
