Douglas allegedly punched 70-year-old Nirmal Singh in the face on March 3. Thereafter the attacker fled from there. Nirmal Singh had come from India to visit New York City. In this attack, his nose bone was broken and his face was injured. Blood can be seen on his turban, face, and clothes in his pictures that surfaced on social media. The Consulate General of India in New York strongly condemned the attack and said that we are in touch with the police investigating.

After this attack, Nirmal Singh decided to return to India. According to the police, the arrested accused was also involved in an attack on two Sikh persons in the same area this week. Another accused has already been arrested in this case. Both had attacked two Sikhs and stripped them of their turbans, beat them up, and robbed their money.
