New Delhi, Feb 18 (IANS) The NHRC has issued notice to the Maharashtra government after a social activist and his wife were shot at by some unidentified attackers in Kolhapur Feb 16, a statement said.
Govind Pansare, 80, and his wife have undergone several surgeries and are still battling for their lives.
Pansare was leading an anti-toll movement in Kolhapur, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) said citing media reports.
The commission, taking suo motu cognisance, has issued notices to the chief secretary and the director general of police of Maharashtra. It called for a report within four weeks.
