On the last day of Chhath Mahaparv, 36 hours of waterless fast concluded with Arghya: Paran to the rising sun

Today is the last day of Chhath Mahaparv which started on 28th October. Enthusiasm was at its peak in the entire state regarding this great festival of folk faith. On Monday morning, Chhathvati and devotees offered Arghya to the rising Lord Bhaskar. With the Havan, the festival of Suryopasana which lasted for four days came to an end. To offer Arghya to Lord Surya, crowds of people started gathering at all the ghats of Patna and other districts from the very first morning. At the same time, at many ghats, the fasting also stayed the night.

 

Here, adequate lighting arrangements were made at Chhath Ghat with attractive decorations with colorful bulbs. Tight security arrangements were also made. The Vratis were on a nirjala fast since eating the prasad of Kharna on Saturday night. After this, the fasting people perform Parana (breaking the fast) at their homes.

 

Earlier on Sunday, there was an influx of faith on the ghats to offer arghya to the astachalgami (setting) sun. Chhath Vratis and their families offered arghya to Lord Bhaskar and returned to their homes waiting for the morning while some Vratis, who had sought a vow, spent the night at the Ghat itself.

 

Apart from the Ghats, Arghya is also given on the roofs of the house.

 

A large number of people had collected water in the courtyards, gardens, and terraces of their houses to offer arghya to the sun. It is with this feeling that the sun which gave us food, we are first offering it with reverence. With full discipline. With the sattvikta of Nirjala.

 

Crowds also gathered at the Ganga Ghats in Patna

 

The Ganga Ghats of the capital, especially Collectorate Ghat, Darbhanga House, Kali Ghat, Rani Ghat, Gandhi Ghat, Law College Ghat, Gay Ghat, Patna College Ghat, Digha No. 95 Ghat, Pati Pul Ghat, Ghat near Digha Bridge on many Ganga Ghats including All arrangements have been made for the convenience of the devotees. Apart from people from 20 to 25 localities, men and women from Bihar and outside states arrived at the Shiv Mandir Ghat, the block complex at Phulwari Sharif in Patna, to observe the Chhath fast.

Chhath, the great festival of folk faith, started with a bath on Friday. On Saturday, on the day of Kharna, the offering of Chhathi Maiya is prepared after being purified from body and mind. Vratis observe a fast of 36 hours. On the third day i.e. 30 October 2022, Arghya was offered to the setting sun in the evening. At the same time, on the fourth day, 31 October 2022, Arghya will be offered to the rising sun.
