In the 62nd match of IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Delhi Capitals by 47 runs. This was RCB's fifth consecutive win. The team is still in the race for the playoffs. They have 12 points after 13 matches with six wins and seven losses. With the win over Delhi, the team has reached the fifth position. Bengaluru has to play its last match on May 18 against Chennai Super Kings at Chinnaswamy. The fate of both teams will depend on this match. If Chennai wins, RCB will be out of the playoff race. At the same time, if Bengaluru wins, it will have to win by a good margin so that the net run rate can be better than Chennai. Even after this, Bengaluru will have to depend on the results of other teams.

Bengaluru-Delhi and Lucknow all three have 12-12 points. Lucknow has played only 11 matches so far and this team can reach 16 points. At the same time, Delhi and Bengaluru have played 13-13 matches. With this defeat, Delhi can now reach only a maximum of 14 points. However, for this, they will have to win against Lucknow Super Giants on their home ground on 14th May. The Kolkata team has already qualified for the playoffs with 18 points. At the same time, Rajasthan is in second place with 16 points in 12 matches. Chennai has 14 points after 13 matches, while Sunrisers are in fourth place with 14 points in 12 matches.

Bengaluru's innings

Batting first after losing the toss, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 187 runs losing nine wickets in 20 overs. Batting first, Bengaluru did not have a good start. Captain Faf Duplessis once again looked in bad form. He became the victim of Mukesh Kumar after scoring six runs. After this, Virat played some big shots on the ball of Ishant Sharma, but this veteran Indian bowler gave the second blow to Bengaluru by getting Virat caught by wicketkeeper Abhishek Porel. Virat was out after scoring 27 runs in 13 balls with the help of one-four and three sixes.

After this, Will Jacques along with Rajat Patidar made a partnership of 88 runs in 53 balls for the third wicket. This partnership was broken by Rasikh Dar Salaam. Rajat was out after scoring the seventh half-century of his IPL career and fifth half-century of this season. He played an inning of 52 runs in 32 balls with the help of three fours and three sixes. At the same time, Jacques missed the half-century. He was out after scoring 41 runs in 29 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes.

Mahipal Lomror (13), Dinesh Karthik (0), and Swapnil Singh (0) could not do anything special. Karan Sharma was run out after scoring six runs. At the same time, Siraj was run out on the last ball of the innings. He also could not open an account. Cameron Green was out after scoring 32 runs in 24 balls with the help of one four and two sixes. In his innings, he hit two fours and two sixes.
