Corruption and bribery have become rampant in Pakistan. Corruption has become so prevalent in the country that there have been reports of corruption even in the flood relief assistance to the people who have been affected by the floods. So amid reports of corruption, Pakistan has digitized the flood relief aid and distribution activity to ensure transparency. As per the instructions of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, it will now be operated digitally with Digital Flood Dashboard.
Money will be audited
The digital dashboard will inform the general public about the foreign flood relief being received and distributed among the victims. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister on Saturday. The latest technology is used in creating a digital flood dashboard to provide all the information regarding relief activities and receipt and distribution of relief goods and assistance. The Prime Minister has announced that financial assistance for flood victims will be audited by the Accountant General of Pakistan Revenue (AGPR) and the world's reputed audit firms to ensure transparency.
Appeal to expedite relief work
The Prime Minister also reviewed the restoration of services in the affected areas and called for expediting the restoration of roads, bridges, and power supply. He instructed the victims to fulfill the necessities of life. During this, Federal Finance and Revenue Minister Mifataf Ismail said that the government has provided 70 billion rupees for relief and rehabilitation of flood-affected people. Ismail said another Rs 50 billion would be released for the affected people. He said that every penny received from abroad will be audited with transparency.
