Partition Day: Rajya Sabha MP's letter to PM Modi, includes Partition in the school curriculum, Memorial Day

Posted on 16th Aug 2022 by rohit kumar

India celebrates Independence Day on August 15, 2022. However, just a day before this, we also celebrate the sorrow of the partition of the country in 1947. When this partition took away a large part of us and the lives of millions of people. It also made millions of people homeless. Referring to this matter, BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Harnath Singh Yadav has written a letter to PM Modi. They have demanded that Partition Vibhiska Memorial Day to be held on August 14 should be included in the history curriculum of students in schools and it should be taught.

What is written in the letter?

The BJP MP has written in his letter that I had written a letter to you on August 14, demanding that the tragedy of partition not only be a memorial day but to give factual knowledge of the horrors of the entire partition to the youth of our country, should be included in their curriculum. . He further wrote that the horror of the Partition of India was, according to my knowledge, the most brutal event in world history. In which about 10 lakh people died. About 70 lakh people had to leave their homes more and more land and the respect of mothers and sisters and daughters was looted. You said that the pain of Partition can never be forgotten. Celebrating Partition Memorial Day every year will not only inspire us to eliminate the poison of discrimination, animosity, and ill-will but will also strengthen national unity and human sensibilities, etc.

Factual literature is not available

The MP wrote – By remembering history, one learns not to repeat the mistakes of the past for the future, and the person who does not learn from the mistakes of society or nation, later repents. Most of the population of the country was born after independence, why the country was divided, what was the background behind the partition, what was the reality of what millions of people suffered, and who was responsible for the partition. There is no factual literature available to the people to give accurate information on Partition Horror Memorial Day.

Those with crooked mindsets wrote facts from their point of view

The MP said that the truth is that we are still dependent on those historical facts which European or country's crooked-minded historians have written from their point of view. This is the reason that in the books of history, the tragedy of the history of partition is summed up in two-four lines or one or two paragraphs. It is also true that history is the easiest way to know our past, understand the present, and improve the future.

Full picture to be added to history syllabus

He further wrote that in his view, the present and future generations of India must have complete authentic knowledge of the most brutal incident in the world. This is possible only when a factual complete picture of the horrors of Partition is added to the history curriculum and taught to the children. Therefore, they again request that the horror of Partition should be considered not only as a memorial day but in the history curriculum of children.
