Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the airport in Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday. This is Arunachal's first greenfield airport, named Doni Polo Airport. This airport built in Itanagar has been completed for 640 crores. In addition, he dedicated to the nation the 600 MW Kameng Hydro Power Station at Itanagar.

Addressing the program, Modi said that the public knows that we have brought a work culture, where we also inaugurate the projects for which we have laid the foundation stone. Our work is not to stop, hang, or wander, its era is gone.

Slap on the face of political commentators

He said, 'When I laid the foundation stone in 2019, elections were about to be held. Many political commentators have raised a hue and cry that no airport is going to be built. Modi is throwing stones because of votes. Today's inauguration is a slap on his face.

Atal Ji's government tried the development the Northeast

After independence, the Northeast witnessed a different era. The area has been a victim of neglect for decades, when Atal Ji's government came, for the first time an attempt was made to change it. It was the first government to create a separate ministry for the development of the Northeast.

The governments that came after this did not carry forward the momentum. Another era of change came when you allowed me to serve you. Earlier governments used to think that the Northeast is far away. The villages in the border areas were considered the last villages, but our government treated them as the first villages in the country.

The airport is spread over 690 acres.

The foundation stone of this airport was laid by the PM in 2019. The name of Doni Polo Airport reflects the age-old indigenous reverence for the Sun (Doni) and the Moon (Polo) in Arunachal Pradesh. This airport is spread over 690 acres. According to media reports, 640 crore rupees have been spent on its construction. With a 2300-meter runway, this airport will be able to operate in all weather.

The airport is equipped with an Instrument Landing System (ILS), which consists of a glide path, a localizer, and distance-measuring devices. This will help in the operation of the airport in all seasons. The weather in the state cannot be predicted accurately, thus there was a great need for such a device.
