The foundation stone of this airport was laid by the PM in 2019. The name of Doni Polo Airport reflects the age-old indigenous reverence for the Sun (Doni) and the Moon (Polo) in Arunachal Pradesh. The airport is equipped with an Instrument Landing System (ILS), which consists of a glide path, a localizer, and distance-measuring devices.
