Mumbai Indians were defeated by Kolkata Knight Riders after 12 years at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. KKR team showed tremendous performance and defeated Mumbai by 24 runs at its own home. This was Mumbai Indians' eighth defeat in IPL 2024.

With this defeat, Hardik's army is almost out of the race for the playoffs of IPL 2024. However, with only three wins and 6 points from 11 matches, Mumbai can still make it to the last four. How can this be possible, let us know the complete equation of Mumbai Indians' IPL 2024 playoffs.

MI Playoffs Chances IPL 2024: How can the Mumbai team reach the playoffs?

Abu has only six points in 11 matches against Mumbai Indians. The team had to face defeat by 24 runs at the hands of KKR and after this, the team now has to play three matches. If Mumbai has to reach the playoffs, the team has to win all its three remaining matches.

After winning all three matches, Mumbai Indians will have 12 points in their account, but it has been seen in the history of IPL that it becomes difficult for teams to reach the playoffs even with 14 points. However, Mumbai has so far been able to reach only 6 points. If the Mumbai team performs miraculously and wins its next three matches, then it will have to depend on the results of other teams to qualify for the playoffs. This means that somewhere or the other the Mumbai team has some chances of reaching the playoffs.

MI vs KKR: KKR beat Mumbai by 24 runs

Batting first, the KKR team scored 169 runs in 19.5 overs. For the KKR team, Venkatesh Iyer scored 70 runs and Manish Pandey scored 42 runs. In response, the Mumbai team could score only 145 runs in 18.5 overs. In this way, KKR defeated Mumbai by 24 runs and registered its third consecutive win.
