India is trying to show the path of peace and solidarity through its religious and cultural heritage amidst the global crisis arising out of the Russia-Ukraine war and China's expansionist policies. In this sequence, the Global Buddhist Summit is being organized for the first time in the country, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It will be organized on April 20 and 21 at Ashoka Hotel, in which representatives from 30 countries will participate.
By the way, efforts were being made to organize this event from the year 2020 itself. Earlier this was not possible due to Corona and later due to some other reasons.

It is being organized by the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) and the Ministry of Culture, whose theme is “Responses to Contemporary Challenges from Philosophy to Praxis”. The focus of the conference will be on how the current challenges of the world can be met from a Buddhist perspective.
Giving this information in a press conference held at Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts (IGNCA), Union Minister for Culture and Development of North Eastern Region G. Kishan Reddy informed that it will be attended by 171 prominent Buddhist teachers and academicians from 30 countries and 150 representatives of various Buddhist organizations in the country.
The Union Culture Minister said that today when there is commotion everywhere in the world, Buddha's message of peace and non-violence is very relevant. Especially since Buddhism reached the whole world from India. This is the land of Buddha, so it is the prime duty of the country to spread these messages of Buddha's peace to the whole world.
On this occasion, referring to the efforts made by the Central Government for the spread of Buddhism and culture, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the international airport in Kushinagar, which is associated with Lord Buddha so that people from all over the world can come directly to Kushinagar.
The government is working to build a grand memorial at the birthplace of Lord Buddha in Nepal, the foundation stone of which was laid by the Prime Minister. Similarly, facilities for pilgrims are being expanded at various Buddhist pilgrimage sites. He said that the Central Government has been organizing many important programs on Buddha Purnima since 2014.
Representatives from South Korea, Japan, and Mexico will also join
IBC Director General Abhijit Haldar said that Buddhist monks are also coming from countries like South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Brazil, and Mexico at this conference. At this conference, topics like health, world peace, environment, and sustainability will be discussed. Eminent scholars, leaders of Buddhist organizations, and Dhamma practitioners from around the world will discuss today's challenging global issues and find answers to them in Buddhism, which is based on universal values.
Abhijit Haldar told that there will be an academic session at this conference, in which people from the academic world will participate, while there will be a session of Sangh, in which Buddhist monks will participate.
