Many parties have announced their candidates for the assembly elections in Karnataka. After the announcement of the names of the candidates, there has been a stampede at the parties. Many leaders are trying to change sides. These days the name of former Deputy CM Laxman Savadi is very much discussed in the politics of Karnataka. Laxman Savadi joined Congress on Friday. Congress state president DK Shivakumar has confirmed this.
Resigned from BJP
Significantly, after not getting a ticket from BJP, Laxman resigned from the party. Laxman Savadi had resigned as a member of the Legislative Council and from the primary membership of the BJP after his ticket was denied from the Athani constituency. Savadi has reached the assembly thrice from Athani.
Savadi meets DK Shivakumar, Siddaramaiah
Laxman Savadi met Congress leader Shivakumar at his residence in Bengaluru. Savadi also met the current Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah at his residence. Significantly, Laxman had resigned from the primary membership of the BJP after not getting a ticket from the Athani assembly seat. On the other hand, DK Shivakumar said that Savadi has been included in the party unconditionally. He was feeling humiliated by BJP. We must bring such big leaders into the Congress party. There are more than 9-10 sitting MLAs who want to join us.
Laxman Savadi made a mistake: BJP
At the same time, there has also been a reaction from the BJP to Savadi's joining the Congress. BJP's Karnataka in-charge Arun Singh said that even after losing the election, BJP made him deputy CM and then MLC, and even after that he is going to a party where the leaders are divided into two factions. They have made a big mistake and will repent later.
