Laxman Savadi had resigned as a member of the Legislative Council and from the primary membership of the BJP after his ticket was denied from the Athani constituency. Savadi has reached the assembly thrice from Athani.

Laxman Savadi met Congress leader Shivakumar at his residence in Bengaluru. Savadi also met the current Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah at his residence. Significantly, Laxman had resigned from the primary membership of the BJP after not getting a ticket from the Athani assembly seat. On the other hand, DK Shivakumar said that Savadi has been included in the party unconditionally. He was feeling humiliated by BJP. We must bring such big leaders into the Congress party.
