Padma Award winners were honored at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 22 April. During this time, a video of PM Modi has surfaced, in which he is touching the feet of Drona Bhuiyan, who was honored with the Padma Shri award. This video is going viral on social media.


 

Who is Drona Bhuiyan?

Drona Bhuiyan, who hails from Assam, is a renowned artist. Padma Shri awardee Drona Bhuiyan is an expert in Ojapali and Devdhani dances. He has been given the title of Guru by the Ministry of Culture. Apart from this, he has been honored with Jeebon Jora Sadhona Bota by Assam Sanskriti Mahaseva and Bishu Rabha awards by the Government of Assam. A training center for promoting art has also been opened by Padmashree Bhuyan in Darrang, Assam.


 

He received the Padma Award

Several personalities, including former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Sulabh International founder Bindeshwar Pathak, were honored with Padma awards at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday. Vekaiah Naidu, Bindeshwar Pathak, and renowned Bharatanatyam dancer Padma Subramaniam were awarded the Padma Vibhushan. Pathak was given this award posthumously. Actor Mithun Chakraborty, singer Usha Uthup, former Uttar Pradesh governor Ram Naik, and industrialist Sitaram Jindal were awarded the Padma Bhushan.


 

These awards are announced every year on the eve of Republic Day. The President had approved conferring 132 Padma Awards for the year 2024. The list includes five Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan, and 110 Padma Shri awards.
