PM Modi's Gujarat Visit: Prime Minister Modi will visit Gujarat on January 11 and participate in the Somnath Swabhiman Parv.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the famous Somnath Temple in Gujarat on January 11.  During his visit, he will participate in the Somnath Swabhiman Parv, which is being held from January 8 to January 11. This four-day event will feature a series of spiritual, cultural, and social activities. Officials said that year-long programs under the "Somnath Swabhiman Parv" will be launched on this occasion.

 

 

The objective of the Somnath Swabhiman Parv is to strengthen India's ancient cultural heritage, faith, and sense of self-respect. The program will include religious rituals, spiritual discourses, cultural performances, and events related to social awareness. The local administration and the temple trust have intensified preparations for the Prime Minister's visit. Special attention is being paid to security arrangements and the convenience of devotees.

 

 

'Somnath is not just a temple, but a symbol of faith.'

BJP spokesperson Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi said that today's topic is not related to politics, but to India's identity, self-respect, existence, and its future. He said that every country's history has certain turning points and dates, which, even if painful, must be remembered so that such events are not repeated in the future.

 

 

He reminded everyone that today is January 6, 2026, and exactly a thousand years ago on this day, the Somnath Temple was destroyed by Mahmud of Ghazni. The Somnath Temple is considered the first of the twelve Jyotirlingas and holds immense religious and cultural significance. Dr. Trivedi said that Somnath is not just a temple, but a symbol of faith. It is believed that merely visiting it absolves one of sins, brings merit, and fulfills desires. This is why Somnath is considered a symbol of India's soul and its eternal tradition.

 

 

A Symbol of India's Prosperity and Resolve

Referring to May 11, 1951, he said that when the Somnath temple was being restored, the country's first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, had said that the complete restoration of Somnath would not be achieved merely by rebuilding the temple, but only when India reached the same pinnacle of prosperity that had attracted invaders in the past. Dr. Trivedi said that in 1951, despite opposition from the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, this resolve was realized in the presence of President Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Today, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is rapidly moving towards prosperity, and that dream is now on the verge of becoming a reality. He said that the vision of the Somnath resolve is now becoming a tangible reality.

Prime Minister Modi has previously stated that the Somnath temple, which has risen again and again despite repeated attacks by foreign invaders, is a symbol of the unwavering and indomitable spirit of Indian civilization. In a recent article, he said that there could be no better example of the invincible spirit of Indian civilization than Somnath, which stands tall with pride despite all the difficulties and struggles. He wrote, "The year 2026 holds great significance for the Somnath temple, as it marks 1000 years since the first attack on this great pilgrimage site. In January 1026, Mahmud of Ghazni demolished this temple with the aim of destroying this great symbol of faith and civilization. It was a violent and barbaric act."
