PM Modi's Malaysia Visit: 'Strengthening defense cooperation and economic ties is the objective', PM Modi departs for Malaysia.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for Malaysia on Saturday for a two-day visit. Before leaving for the Southeast Asian nation, PM Modi said the visit aims to enhance defense cooperation and strengthen economic and innovation partnerships between the two countries.

 

 

Strengthening the Strategic Partnership is the Objective

In a statement before his departure for Malaysia, Prime Minister Modi said, "The historical ties between India and Malaysia have seen significant progress in recent years."

 

 

He added, "I look forward to my discussions with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and hope to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between our two countries."

 

 

"We will aim to deepen our defense and security ties, enhance our economic and innovation partnership, and expand our cooperation into new areas."

 

 

Important Defense Agreements May Be Discussed

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India is preparing to sell Dornier aircraft to Malaysia and assist in the maintenance of its Scorpene submarines and Sukhoi-30 fighter jets. This is PM Modi's third visit to Malaysia. Significantly, when Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim visited India in August 2024, the relationship between the two countries was elevated to a "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership." This is PM Modi's first visit to Malaysia since that major development.

 

 

PM Modi to Address People of Indian Origin

Prime Minister Modi will meet and address the Indian community in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. PM Modi said he is eager to address the Indian community in Malaysia. Approximately 3 million people of Indian origin live in Malaysia. The Prime Minister also appreciated the contributions of people of Indian origin to Malaysia's development.
